Review on Paralex gaming glasses from Gunnar

When I first heard of these glasses I thought they were the most ridiculous thing ever. Gaming glasses? How could these glasses possibly “improve” your gaming? Well, let me tell you, they do.

gunnar glasses

When first picking up the Paralex Gaming Glasses you’ll find that they are extremely light weight, weighing in at only 20 grams. They have a very comfortable stainless steel frame. It definitely does not feel like you’re going to snap these things, but I don’t suggest sitting on them.

As far as gaming goes, that’s where these glasses really show off…

The first thing you’ll notice is that these glasses add a bit of magnification on your TV, computer, phone, and tablet screens. This slight enhancement helps out immensely. For example, when playing Xbox or PlayStation and aiming down a player on Call of Duty, you don’t have to squint to see that distant character, which will end up improving your game.

An additional perk of the Paralex Gunnar glasses is they contain IONIK lens tint. This lens tinting filters out harsh artificial light and unwanted UV rays. This tint also diminishes that “after image” effect.

When typing up a Word document, these glasses make gazing at the screen comfortable and unproblematic! Anyone that sits behind a screen for countless hours can admit to drowsiness and fatigue due to the effects of screen-staring. With Paralex Gunnar glasses, you’ll never have to worry about that again! Turn the brightness all the way up to write or game away!

The final benefit of the Paralex Gunnar glasses is that they keep your eyes from drying out. I know me personally, before I had these glasses, I was constantly rubbing my eyes whenever spending long hours in front of a screen. I can honestly say that has stopped!

What these glasses do, although very small, is amazing!

Song of the Week 1/28/13

Hey guys!

I’ve had this song stuck in my head for seriously like two weeks now, so I figured I’d share it with you guys! It’s called “45” and it’s by Gaslight Anthem. Few things I like about this song. First, the music is super catchy right from the start. I also like the vocal styling! Has that new age hard rock feel to it with the old 90’s punk gang vocals. LOVE IT! Check it out! Let me know what you think!

Also, sorry noone has posted! Things got a little crazy! I have been working on some blogging ideas though! Also plan to have some videos for you to check out in the near future! It’s been so awesome to see so many people find us interesting! We’ve gotten a nice number of followers and lots of viewers from all over the world in the short time we’ve been posting! Thanks for sticking with us and being awesome!

Chinchillas… the Perfect Pet?

Recently, I started living with my Dad. One of the first rules he laid down was the good ole’ pets rule. He said, “No cats, dogs, or anything that will messy the house up,”. That gave me some good guide lines to follow while looking for a new pet to purchase.

Image

I did a whole bunch of research on smaller animals. I figured something that could live in a cage would be best. That’s when I came across chinchillas. Pictured above is my 7 month old chinchilla, Myles. I bought him from a chinchilla breeder here in my hometown (I got really lucky!). There are many things I love about chinchillas. For one, they don’t smell. I clean Myles’s cage about once a week, sometimes I let it go a little longer if I get super busy, but even then you would never know I had a animal in my room. Second, they are literally like holding a cloud. It’s the first thing everyone says. Chinchillas are super soft. The third thing I love about chinchillas is how low maintenance they are. With my job, I’m not home a lot of the time, so I can’t always be there to take him out. Unlike other animals, chinchillas have fun being by themselves, but they do like to get out of the cage when they can.

Image

Chinchillas I think can be a perfect match for most people, but here are a few things to know. They HATE the heat! They are from the Himalayan mountains so they like the cold. In fact, if they are in temperatures past 80, they will overheat, and most likely die. So, if you keep your house warm, then either a Chinchilla is not for you or turn down the thermostat! Second, if you want a cuddly little animal that will snuggle every night, a Chinchilla is not for you. They are active little animals, always on the move. I usually take Myles out in the morning and bring him into bed with me. He’ll usually just run around my bed, play under my sheets, and jump onto the side table next to my bed. Another thing to keep in mind is that they are nocturnal animals. That’s not to say they won’t play during the day, though. I can take Myles out at any part of the day and he’ll play with me, but at night he is VERY active, especially on his wheel. They are super low cost animals. I usually buy him a big bag of bedding which will last me months, a medium size bag of food which lasts me about 2 months, a few chew toys, some snacks and other accessories. All in all, its about $20 a month, (IF that) aside from the months you’ll have to buy bedding, which will be about every 6 months to a year, depending on the size bag of bedding you get. Starting off, chinchillas are priced by color. Some chinchillas have “rare” colors of fur, so they are more expensive. I got Myles for $150. Cages run all types of prices. I usually see decent ones for around $200.

I hope I’ve opened your eyes to the world of chinchillas. They are very cool little pets which you will love and cherish forever. They can live for up to 20 years, so many years of loving! Let me know if you own a chinchilla, or are getting ready to purchase one. As always, feel free to get ahold of me on my twitter (@ikevinreardoni). Below I’m posting a video of Myles playing!

Song of the Week 1/20/13 – 1/26/13

This week I would like to start it off with what in my opinion is the best band out there, the Red Hot Chili Peppers! A solid combination of every musical styling mixed through out their massive library of music. This song is called ” Victorian Machinery” it was released as the “B” side of their most recent album “Im With You” this is a great album to hear new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer settle in his new role and the band adapt to his interesting style. Whats your favorite RHCP song?

Laptop or Tablet??

Since tablets have come to the market the main question has been “Why would I need that”? Rightfully so! Why would you want a product that does the same thing your $1000 laptop already does?! Well, I took a gamble and bought an iPad, even though I already had a MacBook, which I was very pleased with.

Image

Let’s take a look at what laptops are best at: Productivity. If you need to bang out a 10 page paper for school that’s due in 4 hours i’d say a laptop is definitely you’re best bet. Laptops just make it easy to type a whole bunch of stuff in a short period of time. Also, it gives a much bigger picture, so it’s easier to see things as a whole. Now for the tablet side of things. Can you type with a tablet? Yes, yes you can. All tablets, whether Android, Apple, Windows or whatever you choose, have a on screen keyboard and most have full wireless QWERTY keyboard accessories. They just are not ideal for banging out big projects, like a paper, excel document or powerpoint, although they do have programs in which you can accomplish those tasks. What tablets are amazing for is if you want to switch between playing a game, to going on Facebook and Twitter, to looking through your photos, to watching a YouTube video, to controlling your tv, all while listening to music. Multi-tasking is where tablets really own. I’ve also noticed that tablets are WAY faster than your standard laptop.

It really comes down to what type of user you are. If you just want to sit down at night and surf the web, relieve some stress playing a game, listen to music, quickly browse photos, watch a few videos or just read a book then a tablet is definitely for you! If you are a business  person that works on big projects, uses different programs, are in meetings a lot, or just hate touch screens, then a laptop is definitely up your alley! If you are indecisive about which you like better, then you can take the route I took, buy both and enjoy the best of both worlds!

Disappointing Start to the Philadelphia Flyers Season.

Hey all,

For those of you who dont know I am a huge Hockey fan. While my favorite team is The Philadelphia Flyers I am a huge fan of the sport and will watch any game that’s on. Lets breakdown the Flyers less than perfect start to the reduced 2013 season and my opinion on their situation.
Image

We opened up our season and home opener with a horrible period of Hockey against the Penguins, we were out skated, out shot, and down right outplayed. We let up 2 goals, one being a Power Play goal. Despite letting in 2 goals Bryz was the one positive of the period. While the flyers botched passes and gave away the puck Bryz remained solid and kept his ground during the Penguins onslaught and would remain strong for the rest of the game.

The Flyers came out in the ice in the 2nd with a different attitude and opened it up with a bang. Scott Hartnell shot a saucer pass to Claude Giroux who tipped it right under the pad of Fleury, scoring the 1st goal of the season and as the Flyers new found Captain. This Period would continue with a wide variety of chances generated by the Flyers, It was the best hockey the Flyers played that game.

Image

Both of these teams came out in the 3rd ready to play some hockey and they cancelled each other out. 3rd period was a back and forth battle where no team gave a clear advantage to the other. The Penguins being the faster team had an edge on 5v5 but the Flyers had their fair share of chances on the Power Play, But as the clock ran out of time we find the Flyers walking away with a 3-1 loss with the Penguins gaining an empty net goal.

The Flyers had no luck the next day as they marched into Buffalo to take on the Sabers. With 2 goals wrongfully stolen from them by horrible calls the Flyers were unable to rebound, Claude Giroux picks up his 2nd goal of the season in a 5-2 loss against the Buffalo Sabers.

Many will argue that the Buffalo game was stole by the refs and I will be the 1st one to agree with them but did the Flyers deserve to win? Horrible non calls and 2 goals called back defiantly takes a number on a team but the Flyers for both games have in my opinion been playing uninspired hockey. There is a key piece missing from the flyers so far. The team is not playing smart hockey at all. Horrible passing, awful positioning and Dreadful breakouts are killing the Flyers on top of the failing power play.

Image

While there are a lot of negative mojo about the Flyers right now, there are still some positives we can take out of these games and the future of flyers hockey. Claude Giroux has 2 goals in 2 games and is looking as good as he can, If he can continue to play like this it will be a sign of an amazing year for both Giroux and the Flyers. Giroux is not the only stand out player for the Flyers though, Mr. Universe himself is finding a groove early in the season, Bryz has been solid these to games making a couple of amazing saves. This Bryz we are seeing is building a sense of stability in net we have not seen in Philly in a very long time. Is there room for improvement? Always, I would have loved to see him stop that breakaway shot by Vanek but a with the way Bryz is playing we have a shot of winning every game. Another player that greatly impressed me in the Buffalo game was Flyers 1st round pick, 18 year old Scott Laughton. I expect his ice time to continue to grow and the season progresses. He has a couple of plays that really stuck out and made an impression. Scott Laughton has a lot to learn in his 5 game tryout. But a another possible star for the Flyers is in the works.
